The Bear
Artist Chris Ashmore is football mad and a long-standing fan of Sheffield United. His design is inspired by memories of seeing the ‘Blades’ in sticker books and growing up being football obsessed!
The Bear’s fur is covered in several retro home and away Sheffield United FC kits – including the iconic red and white stripes, diamonds from kits in the 90’s, yellow and blue away colours and classic green socks. The Bear will also make reference to climate change with a white background to represent a Polar Bear.

Sheffield United
Sheffield United Football Club is a long-established institution in the steel city and are world-renowned with Premier League football returning to Bramall Lane in the summer of 2019.
Formed in 1889 as an offshoot of Sheffield United Cricket Club, the Football Club were quickly amongst the honours. In 1892 the Blades became and remain the only league club to score 10 goals in a League fixture and in 1893 the Club became the first ever to be promoted by way of a play-off game.
Since then fortunes have fluctuated, with more success experienced in terms of four FA Cup wins and numerous titles and promotions. Sheffielder Chris Wilder took over as manager in 2016 and has brought great success, including two promotions and a place in the top half of the coveted Premier League.
Bears of Sheffield is a great opportunity for SUFC to make a donation, whilst providing individuals and families with the opportunity to have fun devising their own route to go and view and photograph themselves with the Bears.
