The Bear
Edwina Kung’s inspiration for her Bear design stems from the form of the original Bear Sculpture at Sheffield Botanical Gardens, which inspires an idea of suggesting the origin of wildlife and the texture of fur. Taking the idea of playing hide and seek on the body of the Bear, inside its very thick fur, Edwina illustrated the blank canvas into a forest that suggests the texture of the fur and trees, creating a playful imaginary world that everyone can enjoy.
The Tree man is created through the idea of being able to hide and show yourself from your willingness, and being able to build your own imaginary world that you’re comfortable in. Tree man could be seen as individuals, or as one.

Edwina Kung
Edwina works in a diversity of art making: printmaking, installation and illustrations. She has always been interested in the body engagement involved in works. It is about engaging with your senses, exploring your relationship with different senses and questioning the way you react, based on your upbringing. Much of her work is created through a reaction to materials. Pairing an image, a pattern, a colour and a sound to the material she intend to make work with. The material could be the community, a found object, a recording, or material in any forms. Opening conversations about diversity and how we notice things differently, it encourages different approaches to engage with each other and daily objects. She is currently in her 2nd year of the MFA program at Nottingham Trent University.The Sponsor
