The Bear
Artist Emma Barnsley’s Bear was inspired by the beautiful landscape of the Peak District, her love of wildlife and her young daughter. She created a dream-like illustration with whimsical animals, that flow around the sculpture, like a childrens’ story book. This is how she imagines the landscape might look, at night, when all the animals come out to play.
She hopes that her Bear will capture the imagination of both children and adults alike and encourage them to explore the visual narrative, while engaging in their own storytelling.

Emma Barnsley
Emma Barnsley is a Sheffield born artist who has always been inspired by the natural world. She gained a degree in Fine Art at the University of Northampton and is a current member of The Heeley Art Club. She enjoys painting a variety of subjects, especially woodlands and wildlife. Her art ranges in style and technique, from the semi realistic, to whimsical and Illustrative. Her dreamlike illustrations are reminiscent of imagery from a childrens’ book, inspired by her young daughter.The Sponsor
