The Bear

For this bold blue and white Bear design artist Ding Ding wanted to combine her love of geometric pattern and ethnographic costume. Eastern Europe has a long relationship with the Brown Bear, and she wanted to borrow from the traditional costume of that area.

She took small details of Eastern European embroidery motifs and enlarged them onto the Bear to create a pattern of shapes that form around its body, creating a kind of ritual dress or armour.
