Birley Primary Academy

At Birley Primary Academy the school work hard together to ensure that their children receive a broad and balanced curriculum that prepares them for the ever changing world. Bearssemer

The winning design for their Bear, Bearssemer, was created by William and James Adams. The main element of the design is the Bessemer converter and it focuses on the industrial story of Sheffield.

The Bear’s head is red and orange which represents the molten steel inside the Bessemer converter. The Bear’s orange tummy represents Henderson’s Relish, and the legs represent the football heritage of Sheffield. The back of the Bear represents the city’s green spaces. Finally, each child has added a colourful fingerprint to a large rainbow across the middle of the Bear’s back to represent teamwork and a brighter future ahead in 2021.

Due to the signal in Weston Park Museum, you might need to catch this Little Bear from outside! Head towards ‘The Owls’ Bear and walk alongside the building, we’re sure you’ll catch them then!
