Barnsley Academy
The Bear
Barnsley Academy are delighted to be involved in this year’s Bears of Sheffield project to help raise money for a new Cancer and Leukaemia Ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Giving their students the opportunity to give back to the local community and take part in important initiatives like this forms part of their commitment to deliver an education with character. This means that alongside helping the students achieve academically, the Academy strive to develop their sense of character, compassion and service through a range of inspiring and enriching experiences so they grow into active young citizens.

The whole Academy is looking forward to supporting their students as they fundraise for the charity over the coming months and decorate their school’s dedicated Bear sculpture – contributing to what looks set to be a fantastic art trail across Sheffield!
Notre Temps (Our Time)
Inspired by the last year and the pandemic, their Bear reflects on the past, present and future, and how their students can build on this time in their life, Notre Temps (Our Time).
The final design is a combination of two designs submitted by Lauren Cook and Olivia Ward. Both designs are reflective of the theme and how they can look forward to the future by learning from mistakes of the past, living a fulfilled life in the present and making their future happen.
