Bankwood Community Primary School

Bankwood Community Primary is a lively, friendly school where teaching is joyfully received by engaged and well-motivated children. The school represents a safe haven for the children, a place of learning and security. They know that success is achievable for everyone who learns and works hard at the school. Set in wonderful grounds, enhanced by a Forest School, they pride themselves on their creative, stimulating environment which encourages high standards of teaching and learning.

They are participating in the Bears of Sheffield project as a way to help an organisation that is important to them – Sheffield Children’s Hospital. They wish to engage the whole school and aim to highlight the importance of helping others, whilst also promoting art within the school.

Beryl the Bankwood Bear

Bankwood Primary School set-up a competition for the Y6’s during half term to design their Bear sculpture and explain what inspired them. The winners, Lily-Mae and D’Chanel from Y6 had the following to say:

“We chose this design because of our love of nature; it’s where we get away from the world and have time to reflect. Lockdown has meant we’ve had more time to explore and look at the rich variety of wildlife in the community. We have been inspired by the outdoors especially as we enter spring as that’s when flowers bud and nature shows.”

Due to the signal in Weston Park Museum, you might need to catch this Little Bear from outside! Head towards ‘The Owls’ Bear and walk alongside the building, we’re sure you’ll catch them then!
