Spotlight on headline sponsor BID

Sheffield BID have officially been announced as the Bears of Sheffield headline sponsor once again after the success of the Herd of Sheffield in 2016.

Bears of Sheffield is the latest fundraising campaign launched by The Children’s Hospital Charity and will be raising vital funds to transform the Cancer and Leukaemia Ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

After the success of the Herd, which raised a huge £610,000 – the bears are hoping to be bigger and better than ever with the helping hand of Sheffield BID as headline sponsor once again.

Sheffield BID (Business Improvement District) is a member organisation which aims to support and sustain economic growth for a diverse range of sectors across retail, corporate, leisure, culture, education and public services with the city. As an organisation they deliver and support projects which provide additional value to the existing offer across all business sectors within Sheffield.

The Bears of Sheffield will be a mass public-art exhibition, bringing together artists, businesses, school and communities in what is set to be the biggest art event Sheffield has ever seen to encourage more visitors to the city.

Diane Jarvis, Sheffield BID Manager said:

“The BID has always, and will continue, to support great events that can help deliver economic growth in Sheffield city centre. Back in 2016 we were a supporting partner to The Children’s Hospital Charity’s Herd of Sheffield and found it to be a real success. The elephants helped to attract over 180,000 additional visitors to the city centre. So, when we found out that the sculpture trail was coming back with the Bears of Sheffield, we were keen to be involved.

“The Children’s Hospital is a wonderful cause and something many of us in the city have benefited from. In addition to raising much-needed funds for the charity, the trail also benefits the city centre’s traders and contributing to the vibrancy of the city centre.

Cheryl Davidson, Project Manager of the bears at the charity added: “We’re so excited for Bid to join us for our second sculpture trail, having the support of local businesses and the community is integral to the success of a project this size.

“The Herd in total raised £610,000, attracted 175,000 visitors and 85% of these visitors said they remained in the city longer because of the trail – we hope to go above and beyond the success of the Herd with more sponsors, more schools and even more sculptures.”
