The Bear
Miami Moderne Bear is inspired by the artist Jenny Steele’s trips to visit the uplifting ‘art deco’ architecture of Miami Beach, Florida. The Bear features a myriad of decorative patterns painted in tropical colours on the building façades.
Art deco architecture is optimistic in nature, with inspiring shapes and forms, always looking to the future with hope and faith, which is reflected in the design of her Bear.

The Artist
Jenny Steele
Jenny Steele is a Scottish artist currently based in Manchester. Her work references 20th century architecture, most recently coastal mid war architecture and design. Jenny has a keen interest in the permanence of architecture and especially how mid-war design embodied utopic hope for the future. She seeks to revive its positive restorative qualities through her practise which encompasses printmaking, sculpture, drawing, textiles and site-specific artwork. Jenny’s most recent solo exhibitions include, ‘Why be Exotic in Private?’ at the Foundry Gallery in London and ‘Too much is Never Enough’ at The Breakwater, in Miami USA. Then her recent commissions and residencies include ‘Our Library of Light’ at Crosby Library and ‘A B&B’ in Blackpool which is a permanent site-specific artwork.The Sponsor
